S&T Russia successfully installed integration platform in leading Russian consumer electronics retail company “M.video”

About the Customer

OJSC “Company “M.video” (www.mvideo.ru) is one of the leading Russian consumer electronic retail chains, first and the only public company in its segment. The Company started its operations in 1993 and by the end of third quarter of 2008 it had 140 brand name stores in 59 Russian cities with a total space of 375 000 sq. m. In 2007 “M.video” was awarded as “Best Retail Company” by prestigious Russian “Number 1 Brand/People’s Choice Brand” national competition.

In November 2007 OJSC “Company “M.video” became the first publicly traded company in the domestic consumer electronic retail sector.

Goal of the Project

M.Video needed unified platform that would provide integration of existing systems and new applications effectively and with minimal labour input. Integration platform would have to resolve:

• Data exchange on unified platform and with unified interface for development and monitoring
• High accessibility and BCDR
• Ability to change the information system (resource or data user) without influence on the interface of data systems exchange
• High productivity
• Flexible tuning of data actualization
• Wide range of data exchange interfaces
• Reduction of labor input to operation and maintenance of integration platform by unification of software and smaller period needed for modifications

Solution

S&T chose Oracle Data Integrator (ODI|Sunopsis) - new class of tools that support different data exchange technologies:

•  Flat files
•  Connection with databases via JDBC
•  XML
•  SOAP methods as a part of SOA technology
•  Connectors for SAP ALE
•  Message lines
•  LDAP

Results

At the moment M.video integration platform works on BCDR cluster that provides recovery for data exchange within 10 minutes when net communications or software components fail.

At the moment following data exchange interfaces are launched and being used:

•  Exchanging warehouse documents and catalogues between Corporate information system and warehouse inventory system organized by SOA technology
•  Downloading employees and corporate structure data in XML and DBF format from SAP HR to HP OpenView, IBM Lotus Notes and intranet portal in XML and DBF format
•  Copying currency exchange rates from SAP FI to Corporate information system
•  Import of cash desk operations from Corporate information system to SAP FI via iDoc
•  Data extraction, transformation and download from different resources to corporate data repository in Sybase IQ platform

Currently S&T specialists develop data exchange interfaces for new systems that are being installed in M.Video (CRM, commodity circulation and pricing.)
