Danone is a global corporation with a century-long history. On the world market Danone is a leader in milk and pastry production, it also occupies the second place in mineral water production. The company entered Russian market in the beginning of 1990-s and owns now two factories that produce dairy products and a control share of the factory “Bolshevik.” There are about 2500 employees involved in production process.

Goal of the project

Danone needed development and optimization works for analytical reporting system MicroStrategy 7i. It also requested technical support connected with operation of the system and education services for the users.

MicroStrategy, as a tool of information analysis and reporting system, is a corporate standard in all 150 international representations of Danone. In Russian office the system is assigned to a task of sales and production analytical reports generation.

Solution

There were several stages within the project. On the first stages S&T completed following works:
  • Creation of logical model
  • Development of ETL scripts
  • Installation of Intelligent Server
  • Resolving first problems with localization

On the following stages S&T completed following works:
  • Training focused on MicroStrategy products
  • ETL scripts verification
  • Data authenticity providing
  • Denial of centralized architecture
  • Migration of procedures to the local server
  • Delivery of control over projects to the IT department
  • Data clearance methods adaptation to ETL procedures
  • Achievement of 100% data authenticity

Simultaneously S&T experts presented a training course “Advance Reporting and Project Design” for the employees of IT and sales departments.

Result

Installed MicroStrategy platform will let Danone employees:
  • To modify and develop analytical system by themselves
  • To minimize the work of Information system department concerning development and maintenance

Speed of complex reports generation increased from 2 to 4 times as a result of system adjustment and optimization. Users of installed platform got an opportunity to build reports of any complexity and tools for deep analysis which is useful for decision making process. Top-management and management team have now an opportunity to get an updated business information; analytics analyze this information searching for new opportunities; mobile users (f.e. sales managers) receive updated personified information by e-mail or any other wireless channel.
